Nice to Meet You.
Hello! I’m Chris, a wedding photographer based in Suffolk, and I absolutely love what I do. Weddings are such unique events, where two worlds of friends and family collide, and the day is filled with an infectious kind of happiness that’s simply a joy to capture. While every wedding might follow a similar structure, it’s the people and their stories that make each one a beautiful, singular experience.
My style leans heavily into capturing candid moments – those real, unposed bits of magic that happen when no one’s paying attention. I like to get close to the action, which is why I avoid using zoom lenses; it’s all about being right there in the moment. When you look at your photos, I want you to feel like you’re back there, or even like a fly on the wall, witnessing everything unfold again. Of course, I understand the importance of those classic group shots and relaxed couple portraits, so I make sure we get those done quickly, so you can get back to enjoying your day with your loved ones.
One of the things I love most about photographing weddings is how each one, though familiar in its format, is completely unique because of the people involved. There’s always a story, a moment, or even a surprise waiting to be captured – like the time a bride ended up crowd-surfing on the dance floor! That was a wild one and a memory I’ll never forget.
When it comes to working with my couples, communication is key. We’ll have an initial chat before you book me, so I can explain how I work and hear any ideas you might have. Then, a couple of weeks before the big day, we’ll have a detailed call to go through everything – the timeline, the must-have shots, and anything you might not have thought about. My goal is to cover every angle for you, so you can relax and enjoy your day.
What sets me apart? I’d like to think it’s my approachability and the way I blend in with the guests. I’m there as more than just a photographer; I’m there as a friend, helping to support you through the day. I’ve even had guests mistake me for an old mate of the couple! I only offer all-day coverage because I believe in telling the full story of your day – I’m not one to run off as soon as the first dance is done. My observant nature means I’m always switched on, ready for the next moment to unfold.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll likely find me cheering on Ipswich Town or wandering the streets of London and Cambridge with my camera, capturing the beauty of everyday life through street photography.
I can’t wait to hear your story and help capture the moments that will make your wedding day uniquely yours.
What exactly is Documentary Wedding Photography?
It's all about creating a true visual representation of your day by capturing genuine, un-staged moments.
There is nothing wrong with having posed photos but there is a real joy in capturing images of the day as it unfolds in front of you.
As the couple, there is one thing that will happen for sure - your day will FLY BY! You'll wish you could just freeze time. Every minute of your big day is precious. That's why I want you to spend your day with the people you love, rather than a having to worry about posing for a camera.
My Why?
When I look back at my parent's wedding photos, there are only a few. One photo of them standing outside the registry office and then some formal shots with their families. This was over 39 years ago and they are still going strong. However, I would have loved to get a real feel for the day by seeing all of the little details that probably seemed so unimportant at the time.
This is my driving force when capturing a wedding. The little details matter. The decorations; the interactions between family; the emotion & the laughter. It is always an incredible privilege to be able to capture such a special day, knowing that these images may be looked upon by future generations - and this is why I shoot weddings the way I do.
Nice to Meet You.
If you were to ask my wife what I'm like, she would tell you that I'm relaxed, I get on with anyone and I just won't shut up about photography!
I would agree with her. I'm obsessed with creating amazing imagery. When it comes to capturing natural images of people, I like to dip in and out, speak to your friends & family, take a few shots and then move away.
Often the wedding party will mention they didn't even notice me there - and that is what I aim for.
